With the 3rd podcast coming this month, I can say for sure that this is no longer an experiment, but something we'll keep doing. It's very fun to do and the feedback has been phenomenal. If you got an interesting topic for a podcast and a webcam let me know and you can get some umbraco fame :-)

In this episode I had the great pleasure of talking to Mr. Paul Sterling of Motus Connect from Seattle, US aka the e-commerce king of umbraco.

Paul is the man behind the open source project commerce4umbraco which is a smooth integration between dashCommerce and umbraco. It offers everything you need when it comes to commerce, and even then, Paul claims in this podcast that he'll show at CodeGarden how to get up and running in 15 minutes:

Nice to finally "meet" you Paul! I'm so excited about the work you're doing and I agree 100% that being able to easily add ecommerce to umbraco sites is essential (and obviously my PayPal approach is extremely rudimentary compared to your real ecomm solution!).

I also agree that making commercial offerings alongside umbraco will help everyone win... the user gets a better product and better support, the provider gets funding for ongoing development, and the community gets an increasingly mature and well-rounded tool.

Thanks for your efforts, we really appreciate it!

See you at CodeGarden in a few weeks.

    cheers,
    doug.

Paul has got great addition to umbraco via dashcommerce integration and the store.

It will be interesting to see what he did to move dash commerce from web app
to usercontrols etc. I have been looking at dropthings http://www.codeplex.com/dropthings (cut down page flakes) and would like to create portal type thing with it and serve up via umbraco

    CG08 cant wait!

  3. Morten Bock Sørensen Says:

Can't wait to see the commerce package in action. This is a product that i think we could definitely use for our customers when they decide to include commerce in their websites.

  4. Søren Sprogø Says:

I SO can't wait to see the commerce4umbraco demo at Codegarden!

An eCommerce solution is something I've been waiting for since I started working with Umbraco a couple of years ago.

  5. Warren Buckley Says:

I laughed quite hard when if first started playing. Organ version of YMCA.

    "Young man...." haha haha
Niels is this beauty of a song on that CD to be won in the Umbraco Bingo?

But on a serious note, I am very interested to learn about commerce4Umbraco and how it could benefit me and projects I work on.

Additionally I am interested in knowing more about the umbraco store and seeing how this could improve offerings to the community.

I look forward to meeting you Paul at CodeGarden.

  6. Darren Ferguson Says:

    iPod version!

  7. Lesley Says:

Glad to hear these videos are going to be a regular feature. Hammond organ rendition of YMCA had me LMAO! Where can I get a copy?!

A couple of suggestions for the future:
    1. Could you stick a volume control on the flash player, or reduce the standard level? I have to turn my volume down to minimum to avoid being deafened.
    2. Can you do a mp4 for download and make it a true podcast that we can subscribe to on iTunes or whatever??

    Cheers,
    Lesley

  8. Thomas Kahn Says:

Thank you very much for an interesting presentation of Commerce for Umbraco! I've had to face doubts from customers that have been hesitant about selecting Umbraco as their major web platform due to the fact that it has no integrated e-commerce solution. I told them to sit tight and wait. :-)

I'd also like to say that I enjoy these podcasts immensely! I understand that there must be a bit of work behind them, but it's time well spent!

    Thanks!
