We're happy to announce a new initiative at CodeGarden - the umbraco awards. There's a lot of great umbraco work going on in our community with people using umbraco in many impressive ways. Now it's time to get all that fantastic work out in the limelight.

We've made it free to participate and we'll have the following categories (more info below):

  • Best technical solution
  • Best design (weight on semantic/compliant markup)
  • Best collaboration/community solution
  • Best integration
  • Best package

Dates:

  • We'll open for submittions on April 7th.
  • Deadline for submittions is May 9th.
  • We'll announce 3-5 nominees in each category on May 23rd
  • We'll announce the final winners during CodeGarden.

Categories:

  • Best technical solution. In this category we'll promote the best and most innovative usage of umbraco, the umbraco concepts and apis. So the focus is on the technical usage of umbraco

  • Best design. We're looking for the designs that blows you away. Not only visually, but also in respect to web standards. Where stunning design meets clean markup.

  • Best collaboration/community. We're talking members here. Comments, profiles, personalization. We're looking for the most impressive ways that you've taken the two-way web to your website.

  • Best integration. Usually umbraco doesn't stand alone. We've got an award ourselves for integration (BNP CMS Awards 2006) and we'd like to see how you're using umbraco as a hub for other systems.

  • Best package. Those daily helpers that we all use, but nearly forget is a result of other peoples hard work. Whether it's complete packages or just a little utility we want them all nominated and in this category, it'll be hard to find a winner.

Rules:

  • An individual/company can only participate one in each category
  • Only submittions with full details are evaluated
  • The submitter must be the creator of the work
  • It's the umbraco awards jury who decides the nominees and winners. The tough jury consists of Niels Hartvig and Per Ploug Hansen from umbraco, as well as three other members from the community.
  • In case a jury member is nominated, he/she will be excluted in the voting.
